As musical director of Unit 31 and founder of The NuShape Orchestra, pianist and composer Raffy Bushman has honed his craft among some of the finest like-minded musicians in the London music scene. His debut release ‘Look Up’ (2020) - available on a limited run of vinyl for the first time - tells the honest and personal story of his lifelong musical journey through hip-hop, jazz, classical and gospel - all major formative influences on his unique sound.

Along with bassist Tom Driessler (Tom Misch and Yussef Dayes, Yussef Kamaal) and drummer Sam Michnik (Ego Ella May), the trio effortlessly blend the harmonies and delicate textures characteristic of the jazz sound with a slick beat-driven hip-hop aesthetic. The release has received widespread critical acclaim, and has attracted the attention of Jazz FM, WWFM, Music Is My Sanctuary, Bandcamp Weekly and Soho Radio, as well as gaining strong editorial support from Spotify.

For anyone remotely interested in the UK jazz scene – this is an essential piece for the collection.
